Should off-grid travelers mix rigid and flexible solar panel

Postby polinass on Wed Nov 26, 2025 6:39 am

Rigid panels maximize power, flexible panels maximize surface coverage. Could a mixed setup provide the strongest combo of performance + adaptability, or does it complicate the system too much?

A 200W flexible panel works best as an auxiliary unit or part of a compact system on vans or trailers. It provides lightweight capacity without stressing mounting points. However, it needs careful wiring to avoid voltage drop. When viewing 200 watt flexible solar panel, think about system balance: cables, controller type, and surface heat matter more than peak wattage written on the label.
